The 100th Annual GCA Dinner Dance is fast approaching.  For the past 70 years, the event has been held the first Saturday in December at the Waldorf Astoria.  The Centennial Celebration on December 6th is a Dinner and Dance. Please remember that spouses and guests are invited.  If you have not already done so, please send in your RSVPs.  We must have your response cards by November 14th if you would like to be included in the Dinner Book.

At the ARTBA Annual Meeting held last week, the main topic for the over 400 attendees was SAFETEA-LU reauthorization.  ARTBA will be leading the lobbying effort and has launched a “SAFETEA-LU reauthorization central” newsletter on their website (www.artba.org – the newsletter may be found in the government affairs menu).

On October 6, Department of Buildings Commissioner Robert LiMandri announced strict new criteria for individuals seeking to operate Class C hoist machines, also known as mobile cranes. As part of these new regulations, applicants must obtain certification from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO). To assist with these new regulations, the Department has created a fact sheet that details information about obtaining NCCCO certification.
